Frequently Asked Questions

How old must my child be to attend?

To attend our program, children must turn three by December 31 of the current preschool year. Our preschool runs Sept- May.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

We require children to be potty trained, as our facility is not equipped for diaper changes. For children still experiencing the occasional accident, we ask that they wear a pull-up to help maintain a sanitary classroom environment.

Do you provide transportation?

We do not provide transportation, but our facility offers ample parking to make drop off and pick up convenient for families.

Do you provide snacks?

We do not provide snacks but we do offer a designated snack time for children to enjoy a small and nutritious snack brought from home. We are a nut free classroomĀ

How many children per class?

While we are licensed for up to 19 children, we try to cap our enrolmentĀ  at 17 per classroom to ensure a lower ratio, with two dedicated teachers in every room.

Are you a licensed preschool program?

We are a fully licensed preschool program committed to high standards of safety and care. We strictly adhere to all Alberta childcare legislation and health regulations. We undergo regular inspections by licensing, health and fire authorities.Ā

Do you do field trips?

While we do not take offsite field trips, we do host in-house guests, including family and community members who share their unique expertise andĀ  skills with our preschoolers. (In the past we have had: firefighters, vets, dentists, bee keepers, doctors, police officers, pilots, radio announcers, and kid's yoga instructors. Even Hunter, the mascot for The Edmonton Oilers,Ā  came to visit)Ā

Does the preschool run all year?

Our program runs from September through May, generally following the Edmonton Public School calendar. We are closed for all statutory holidays, including two weeks for winter break and one week for spring break, as well as two days for teacher's convention. Please refer to our Year at a Glance calendar for our full schedule.Ā
